Topic of the Month: Fantasy Draft

FootballIt’s early August.

Thousands and thousands of football lovers are gearing up for their favorite event on the football calendar. Their favorite NFL franchise’s camp? No. Exhibition games that signal the start of another season? Again, no. The Super Bowl? No – that’s six months away.

None of the above. Sure, the Steelers practicing at St. Vincent College and the Packers riding local kids’ bikes to the field are exciting signs of cooler weather and the pigskin flying through a steel gray sky. But those rituals aren’t what millions of American fans are stoked about this month.

August has become the month during which clusters of ten or twelve or fourteen friends gather to conduct their league’s fantasy football draft. If you’re one of those fans with a team, or three or four teams, you know what I mean.

I have a friend who prepared for last season’s draft for weeks. Friends chuckled at him, his wife rolled her eyes at his diligence. He persevered through the ridicule: this was the year for the Galloping Ghosts to rule, he declared.

He compiled lists of the Top 50 Running Backs and the Top 100 Wide Receivers and the best bets for Defense/Special Teams. Who should he take with the second overall pick? Who would the sleeper be who would give him an edge? Which QBs to select? What rounds? Should he wait on Tight End or nab a few up late? Are Gostkowski, Scobee, and Bironas kickers or the senior members of a law firm? You’d have thought these were life or death decisions.

And while choosing the right Project Manager or CAD Operator or Project Engineer for your company is also not life or death, it is vitally important to your company and its future success. A Project Manager who can design projects on time and under budget can make you millions and improve the quality of life for you employees and their families. A construction manager who knows how to save money without sacrificing quality is more valuable than Tom Brady, Brian Westbrook, and Randy Moss combined.

So think of EngineeringDesignJobs.com as the site of your 2008 (and 2009 … and 2010 …) fantasy draft. Come to our website and browse through the extensive lists of Project Managers, Project Engineers, and CAD Operators. Prepare for your draft … I mean … prepare to hire the strongest candidate to meet and exceed your needs.

Should you select that PM from California with hospital experience or the one from Arizona who led the team in that new arena project? They’re both valuable. They’re both winners. Anyway you can get them both?

As for the Galloping Ghosts … my friend took LaDanian Tomlinson at #2 overall and then took a chance on Adrian Peterson and Tony Romo with his next two picks. Things worked out okay for him.

Come to EngineeringDesignJobs.com often and peruse our lists, pick your favorites, get excited about your draft. And good luck dominating your league.

"I have been very happy with EngineeringDesignJobs.com. Just two days after our account was activated I found an excellent senior level manager in the resume database that we hired the next week. In my opinion, that one hire alone was worth paying the annual fee for the service."
