HatTopic of the Month: The Perfect Candidate

It’s Primary season. I know this because the same cluster of 8 or 10 Democrats and 8 or 10 Republicans keep appearing on my television, standing at a semi-circle of podiums in Iowa or New Hampshire, trying to look presidential and making policy pronouncements about education and immigration.

And despite what their spokespeople argue, every candidate has flaws and failures, and every candidate is loved by some and reviled by others.

In 2008, we’ll vote for our next President, and something like 51% of the people will be ecstatic with the outcome, and something like 49% will mourn a loss suffered by their champion.

But in politics, a majority of 51% is enough to claim victory.

However, in engineering, no company worth its salt will settle for a success rate around 50%, and your desire for perfect work and projects completely as perfectly as possible fuel your demands for a perfect candidate.

EngineeringDesignJobs.com believes that the perfect candidate is out there. Not the perfect political candidate, mind you. Rather, the engineering candidate who is ideal for your needs.

Our campaign in 2008 will center on finding the perfect candidate for your needs. We can make this bold promise of a brighter future (for your company) because, during 2007, we doubled the number of candidates in our database and expect to add thousands more profiles of skilled professionals in the coming year.

Every man and woman running for the White House has a resume comprising different talents and accomplishments: mayor, senator, governor, war hero. Conservative or liberal. Mainstream or firebrand. Washington insider or Outside-the-Beltway.

Well, every candidate whose resume we storehouse for your easy perusal at EngineeringDesignJobs.com also boasts his or her own proud achievements: Project Manager who saves money, Estimator who makes money, engineer who finishes work ahead of schedule, drafter who has climbed the ladder, manager who motivates his team.

In America, your vote is one of millions and while it counts, it doesn’t determine by itself who sits in the Oval Office.

At your company, your vote does determine which candidate will get that corner office, or trailer at the job site, of your company.

Our goal is to put the finest candidates before you and let you find the right man or woman. You can declare “I like Ike” or “Hoo but Hoover?” as you scan the candidates we can offer you.

We know that while you might have to settle for four years with a flawed presidential candidate you didn’t vote for, you won’t accept even four weeks with a flawed engineering candidate.

clockNow's the Time!

We associate January 1 with many things, from Dick Clark to college football bowl games to the Rose Parade to the determination to get into the gym and lose that extra weight we gained over the holidays. And that magical date when we open a new calendar also leads us to make our New Year’s Resolutions.

Here at EngineeringDesignJobs.com, we see thousands of candidates a year who respond to the symbolism of a new year by determining to improve their lives: invariably, candidates flock to us in December and January, posting their resumes, scouring the site for positions that will challenge them and improve their lives. So while some people resolve to lose ten pounds, thousands of engineering professionals decide to act boldly and find better jobs.

As a result, 2 to 3 times as many candidates apply for jobs and register on our site in December and January as at any other time throughout the year. We encourage those candidates to post their most recent resumes and search often for challenging positions such as those your company lists on our site.

This is a windfall for you if you plan on doing any hiring in the first few months of 2008. At the exact time that your company is making momentous decisions for the new work year – including charting what new hires you need to make, you have thousands of talented professionals at your disposal, and they are motivated to make a change.

Find the perfect engineer to tackle that new design project or the right Project Manager to oversee that construction management job … then you can worry about losing those extra pounds.

Give us a call … we have a package that’s suited for your needs.
