VDOT Richmond District’s Program & Investment Planning Section is seeking a dynamic individual to serve as a project coordinator for locally administered roadway and transportation related projects to ensure that high quality, accurate right-of-way and construction plans, and other project documents are submitted on schedule and that the projects remain within budget. You will coordinate/communicate with District Program Managers, VDOT and other engineering staff, localities, stakeholders, other agencies and FHWA; and ensure that all project phases meet their scheduled dates. The position will coordinate the project scope, schedule, and budget and apply project management philosophy in order to meet programmed schedule and budgetary objectives; schedule/coordinate project team meetings and milestone reviews and report overall project progress to project sponsors, task managers and key stakeholders.

Minimum Qualifications
• Knowledge of civil engineering principles related to roadway design.
• Ability to interpret, apply applicable state, federal rules, regulations, practices, policies and procedures.
• Skill in reading and interpreting plans.
• Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing with diverse audiences and to make presentations and conduct meetings.
• Ability to prepare, maintain records and reports.
• Skill in providing, promoting good customer service to customers.
• Skill in the use of computers, software applications to include software for project documentation, communications and databases.
• Knowledge of construction, maintenance contract policies and procedures.
• Knowledge of roadway design criteria, basic storm water management regulations and construction methods.
• Valid driver’s license.
Additional Considerations
Experience managing projects in the transportation engineering industry. Knowledge of VDOT standards, specifications and construction materials. Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Engineering Technology preferred or equivalent experience or training may substitute for degree. Certification as a Project Management Professional by PMI.
Special Instructions
Fingerprint based background check, references, work history, and DMV records will be verified prior to employment. Position is designated as essential to support emergency operations and may be required to work outside normal work hours to ensure the safety of the traveling public.
